Links

http://www.usd.edu/trio/tut/excel/ - This is a nice basic tutorial from the website for the University of South Dakota with an introduction to spreadsheets, cells and basic functions within Excel. Good place to begin

http://www.fgcu.edu/support/office2000/excel/ - Another nice tutorial site from a college Florida Gulf Coast University). It is organized with links by topics and uses a nice easy to follow text and graphical presentation. The information here is easy to understand and is designed for the person who is first attempting to use Excel.

http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/training/CR061831141033.aspx - This is a link to more than 50 online tutorials offered by Microsoft for Excel. There is basically a course designed for almost any type of function or activity you would like to perform in Excel. These tutorials are a little more advanced and should be used only after you have played with and used Excel a little bit and gotten used to its basic features. It is listed under the multimedia category because these tutorials contain audio as well as visual presentation. They are very well done and a great online help tool.

Files

Intro_to_Excel.doc - This handout was created by a fellow NYPL librarian for her Microsoft Excel course. I found it very useful in teaching my Excel class and very user friendly for those first attempting to use the Excel program

MSExcel.doc - This is more detailed packet of information for beginning Excel users. The format is nice because it gives step by step instructions for performing various basic Excel functions.

Multimedia

Below is a channel of ten videos for performing various functions in Excel. Use the left side scroll window to navigate between the videos. They are numbered and are best used by viewing them in their numbered order. However, I leave that choice up to you.

Here are two more Excel videos for you to enjoy (and hopefully learn from!):
